nib NZ appoints Andrew Blair to New Zealand Board

The Board of nib NZ has appointed Andrew Blair as a Non-Executive Director, effective 25 August 2025. On 1 November 2025, Mr Blair will succeed nib NZ Chairman, Hanne Janes, who steps down from the nib NZ Board, in line with nib’s Group Board renewal policy.

nib Holdings Chairman, David Gordon, said Mr Blair has extensive experience in New Zealand’s health sector. Mr Blair is currently a Director of New Zealand’s Evolution Healthcare Group and Queenstown Airport Corporation. He is the founder and Director of Andrew Blair Consulting, which has provided advice to and negotiated the sale of health specialist businesses.

Mr Blair’s previous experience includes Executive Chair of Southern Cross CLT Hospital, a joint venture company that owns and operates an independent hospital in Queenstown, New Zealand; Director, Waitaki District Healthcare Services, responsible for the safe and sustainable running of the Oamaru Hospital; Chair of Capital & Coast District Health Board, which has an annual budget of more than NZ$1.2 billion and more than 6,200 employees; Chair of the Hutt Valley District Health Board, and an advisor to the Forte Health Ltd Board. He has also been an adviser to BreastScreen Auckland and St Marks Women’s Health, which provide private and public health services. In 1995 he was appointed general manager of Royston Hospital.

“Andrew has extensive business experience and established stakeholder networks in New Zealand, crossing private and public sectors,” Ms Janes said. “I look forward to working with him in the transition period.”

Mr Gordon said: “Andrew brings very deep commercial and governance experience to nib’s New Zealand Board. He has been the chief executive of a listed company, worked closely with a wide range of public and private stakeholder groups, and has clear knowledge of public policy through his advocacy roles. nib’s New Zealand Board has a broad skill base and experience complemented by Andrew’s appointment.”

Mr Gordon thanked Hanne for her commitment to nib NZ, first as a Non-Executive Director, and then as Chairman of the Board. “Hanne has helped nib NZ grow, diversify and prosper,” Mr Gordon said. “We look forward to a smooth transition to the new Chairman, we thank Hanne for her dedicated service, and we wish her well.”

Ms Janes served on the nib NZ Board from 2016. She was appointed Chair in March 2024. Mr Blair’s appointment reflects nib’s ongoing focus and commitment to orderly Board renewal and succession planning.
